Aerodynamic Performance of a Nanostructure-Induced Multistable Shell

Multistable shells that have the ability to hold more than one stable configuration are promising for adaptive structures, especially airfoil. In contrast existing studies on bistable shells, which well demonstrated by Venus flytrap plant with feed itself, this work experimentally aerodynamic response of various configurations a nanostructure-induced multistable shell. This shell is manufactured using nanotechnology and surface mechanical attrition treatment (SMAT) locally process nine circular zones in an original flat plate. The responses eight developed shell, including four twisted untwisted different cambers, visually captured quantitively measured wind tunnel. results clearly demonstrate feasibility utilizing controllable adjust performance
